A message from Bishop-Elect Bill Gafkjen

Bishop-Elect Bill Gafkjen

Sisters and brothers in Christ,

I am honored and humbled by the call to serve as the next bishop of the Indiana-Kentucky Synod. I am grateful for Bishop Stuck's leadership and for the solid missional foundation that he and other leaders have laid over over these last 12 years, and I look forward to working alongside you as we live deeply into the vision of every person a missionary, every rostered leader a mission director and every ministry site a mission center.

Bishop-Elect Bill Gafkjen

As you know, I will assume the Office of Bishop on September 1 of this year and I will be formally and liturgically installed to that office on Saturday, September 11. There is much to attend to in these next few weeks and there will be much more to decide and do as autumn leaves begin to fall. This email newsletter will keep you informed about various aspects of this transition in synod leadership and will invite your involvement in a variety of ways.

Along the way, please know that I hold you, the people, congregations, leaders, and institutions of this synod, in prayer and I ask that you pray regularly for those of us involved in leading this synod into the next steps and strides of our journey together.

Peace be with you!
