The tradition of serving others continues at the 2008 Synod Assembly in Lexington, Kentucky. Gathered together, faithful and bold, the congregations of the Indiana-Kentucky Synod can make a difference en masse by supplying voting members with boxes of donated items for the Blue Grass Farms Chaplaincy and the McCreary Christian Center of Kentucky.

What can you bring from your congregation to the 2008 Synod Assembly?

  • New or gently used Spanish Christian education materials for children and adults, including Bibles, for the Blue Grass Farms Chaplaincy
  • Non-perishable food and school supplies for the McCreary Christian Center
  • Gifts of money

Your gifts will benefit two local Christian ministries in Kentucky:

Blue Grass Farms Chaplaincy is a Christian ministry created to serve the spiritual, physical, social and educational needs of individuals involved in the central Kentucky horse farms. Established through the Race Track Chaplaincy of America, Blue Grass Farms Chaplaincy is the second of its kind and was begun in 2002. Chaplains from many denominations serve through the national organization at 87 race tracks and farms throughout the United States. These farm chaplains assess the needs of workers on the farms and determine if they need help with health or legal issues, family crises or substance abuse, or help with translations and language classes.

Assembly planners are also collecting non-perishable food and school supplies for the McCreary Christian Center in McCreary County, Kentucky. Established in 1980, this non-profit organization offers a free medical clinic and food pantry for low-income individuals in the county and provides referrals to other outreach services, if necessary. The organization currently serves over 500 families per month.
